Conversational human-computer interaction is becoming a major requirement for artificial intelligence, where conversations may be verbal, textual, visual, gestural, etc. Coupled with virtual reality and augmented reality, it is expected that conversational computing and communication will revolutionize the way computers are used in our daily lives.

Conversational Data & Knowledge Engineering (CDKE) on the one hand extends data engineering and knowledge engineering to address computational conversations with a (possibly deep) context. On the other hand it addresses computational conversations themselves for complex problem solving.

The First IEEE International Conference on Conversational Data and Knowledge Engineering (CDKE 2019) is an international forum for academia and industries to exchange visions and ideas in the state of the art and practice of Conversational Data and Knowledge Engineering, as well as to identify the emerging topics and define the future of CDKE.

TOPICS OF INTEREST include, but are not limited to:

  • Storage and retrieval of conversational data and knowledge

  • Conversational databases and knowledge bases

  • Conversational interactions in virtual reality and augmented reality

  • Multimodal conversational user interfaces

  • Conversational problem solving

  • Conversational learning

  • Conversational e-commerce and e-marketing

  • Conversational recommender systems

  • Complex queries

  • Context modelling

  • Conversational query processing and optimization

  • Conversational business intelligence

  • Systems and platforms

  • Performance evaluation

  • Security and privacy

  • Applications

The conference proceedings will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore® and/or IEEE Computer Society Press digital library. Distinguished quality papers presented at the conference will be selected for the best paper awards and for publication in internationally renowned journals (EI, SCI, and/or Scoups indexed).
